Hope Pastoral Transition Page
Pastoral Transition Page This page will probably continue until July 2019 because of the current plan for Hope's pastoral appointment.
The Conference has appointed Jim Heikes as our Transitional Intentional Interim Pastor. Our District Superintendent, David Burt, sends this to introduce Pastor Jim:

Dear friends at Hope United Methodist Church,

I write to you to share that Bishop Karen Oliveto intends to appoint the Rev. Jim Heikes as pastor of Hope United Methodist Church in Billings, Montana effective July 1, 2018.   Rev. Heikes is a retired elder in the Yellowstone Conference, having served churches in Ten Sleep/Hyattville Wyoming, the Ruby Valley Parish, East Helena and Butte Aldersgate.  Rev. Heikes will be serving as a Transitional Intentional Interim Ministries Specialist at time for this next year.

Please keep Rev. Jim and his wife Dee Anna in your prayers along with Rev. Gary Geiman in this period of transition.

May the Holy Spirit enliven and guide your ministry to the people of your community.  Blessings to you all.

Your brother in Christ,

David Burt

District Superintendent, Eastern Montana

Jennifer Reiser, our SPRC Chair, offers this important information about the Transitional Intentional Interim Pastor appointment:

For the past several months the SPRC, together with finance and others, has been providing information and meeting with our District Superintendent David Burt regarding a new pastor for Hope.

In his letter David mentions that Rev. Heikes is a Transitional Intentional Interim Specialist.  This means that during his appointment in addition to his typical pastoral duties, Rev. Heikes will hep us look at and evaluate our history, help us see where we are as a church currently, and help us decide what our future can look like and begin to move us in that direction.  He will work closely with lay leadership by strengthening and renewing current leadership, and discovering new lay leadership.

This will be a period of transition. We all take this transition seriously and commit to working together for the future of Hope.

You may have questions or mixed feelings about this announcement. We understand that everyone approaches change differently. You will have an opportunity to participate in both small and large gatherings in the next couple of months as this change approaches.

In the meantime, please reach out to me or a member of the SPRC.

In addition I'd like you to consider these words from Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your path straight."
